Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the questions we hear most.
How long does a commission take?
Typically 6–12 weeks from approved sketch to finished piece. Larger or more intricate work takes longer; we’ll give you an honest estimate when we discuss the brief.
Where do you ship?
Worldwide. Most pieces are shipped from our Hamilton studio via insured courier. See our shipping page for details.
How are pieces packaged?
Wire sculptures are packed carefully. Every piece is custom-crated with internal armatures so the wire doesn’t deform in transit. Larger sculptures ship in wooden crates.
Are pieces signed?
Yes. Every piece is signed by James, dated, and (for limited editions) numbered.
Can I commission something custom?
Absolutely. See the commissions page for the process.
How do I care for a wire sculpture?
Indoor pieces need only an occasional dust with a soft brush. Outdoor pieces (kinetic garden sculptures) are weather-finished but should be brought in for the harshest months. We’ll include care notes with your piece.
Do you offer returns?
Yes, within a limited window for any piece that arrives damaged or that doesn’t feel right in your space.
Are commissions returnable?
Commissions are non-returnable since they’re built specifically for you — but we work closely with you through the sketch and approval stages to make sure we’re building the right thing.
How long does it take to get a finished piece?
Most pieces take about 6–12 weeks from approved sketch to finished work — larger or more intricate ones take a little longer. We’ll give you a realistic timeframe once we’ve talked through your idea.
Is that glass?
No, it’s resin, not glass. It just has that glass-like clarity and shine.

Where we ship
We ship anywhere a courier will carry our crates — Canada, United States, Europe, Asia, and beyond. If you’re unsure whether we can reach you, email Lynn and we’ll find a way.
Timing
- Within Canada: 5–10 business days from the date we ship.
- United States: 7–14 business days.
- International: 10–21 business days, depending on customs.
In-stock pieces ship within 3–5 business days of order. Commissioned pieces ship when complete — you’ll get a date when you commission.
Packaging
Wire sculptures are packed carefully. Every piece is custom-crated to keep the wire from deforming in transit, and every shipment is insured for full value.
Customs and duties
International orders may incur customs duties or import taxes at delivery. These are the buyer’s responsibility — we can’t predict or pre-pay them.
Tracking
You’ll receive tracking by email as soon as your piece ships.
[Lynn: confirm if shipping costs are included in product prices or calculated at checkout.]
Returns
We want every piece of James’s work to feel right in your home. If yours doesn’t, we’ll make it right.
If your piece arrives damaged
Email Lynn within 7 days of delivery with photos of the damage and the packaging. We’ll arrange a return at our cost and either repair, replace, or refund — your choice.
If your piece simply doesn’t feel right
Email us within 14 days of delivery and we’ll arrange a return. The piece must come back in its original condition and packaging. Return shipping is the buyer’s responsibility, and the original shipping cost is non-refundable.
Commissions are non-returnable
Pieces commissioned for you specifically can’t be returned — they’re yours. We work closely with you through sketch and approval stages to make sure we’re building the right thing.
Refund timing
Once we receive a returned piece in good condition, we’ll process the refund within 5 business days. Refunds go back to the original payment method and may take an additional 5–10 business days to appear on your statement.
