Saturday Morning tells the story of Antwon and Bejoe, two young brothers who live with their mother in a small house of exquisite colour, complete with a pointed roof and a flag. With an entire Saturday free before them, they set off to explore, imagine, and enjoy the wonders of the day. As evening falls, they return home to the loving embrace of their mother, who welcomes them back and tucks them into bed.
In the second half of the book, Jim Paterson invites readers behind the scenes of his creative process, revealing how he transforms wire, colour, and imagination into his remarkable sculptures. Follow the creation of several works, including the beloved Storytelling Machine, from the first spark of inspiration to the finished piece.
Filled with whimsy, warmth, and creativity, Saturday Morning is a celebration of imagination, family, and the joy of making things by hand.
Every piece is an original, hand-built by James Paterson in his Hamilton studio from steel wire and mixed media. No two are alike. Each arrives signed and ready to display or hang.
